Climbing and other "extreme" sports have quickly gained in acceptance and popularity with people of all ages. Cliffside Climbing Gym now offers a portable climbing wall to provide a unique and exciting opportunity for people to experience the thrill of rock climbing at your event. Past experiences show that portable climbing walls draw great attention and crowds to a variety of events. With the Cliffside Portable Wall, all the adventure and thrills of climbing can be had in a safe environment at almost any location. Adding to the excitement, the Portable Wall construction and professional artwork gives the feel of realistic rock climbing. At a height of 22 feet with multiple paths up the wall, the Portable Wall can prove challenging for people of all ages and abilities.

New Levels of Excitement

The Cliffside Portable Wall adds a new enjoyable dimension to any affair. Besides exciting climbing, Cliffside staff can organize special events such as blindfolded climbing, speed climbing races, and include prizes for the fastest climber, or completing the hardest climb. Additionally, Cliffside Climbing Gym can assist the hosting organization by donating prizes for these events.

Knowledgeable Staff

With our well trained staff, the Portable Wall can accommodate up to 100 climbers per hour (requires 5 staff). Staff members are veteran climbers themselves, and many of them have years of experience on some of North America's most technical rock climbs. Along with managing the Cliffside Portable Wall, the staff will provide:

Climbing Demonstrations
Safety Supervision
Instruction and Coaching
Belaying (holding the ropes for climbers) and Harness Fitting

Rates

We handle all aspects of the climbing wall; we transport, setup, operate, and remove the wall. Two staff members are required for wall operation; they are included in the hourly rental fee. With two staff the wall can accommodate over 40 climbers per hour. If you feel that 40 climbers per hour is not sufficient; extra staff can be provided. The rates are as follows:

First Two Hours of operation $385.00
Per Additional Hour $80.00 / hour
Additional Staff (2 already included) $25.00 / hour
Transportation (venues outside Kamloops) $1.20 / Km
Living out (venues outside Kamloops) $100.00 / day

In addition, there are a few ways to recoup, or minimize your costs:

Wall Sponsors - Banners can be placed on the wall to advertise for sponsors. Standing 22 feet high, the portable wall is often the most visible activity at an event; it attracts a lot of spectators. Banners placed on the Top, and along the sides, get a great deal of exposure. We leave it up to you to sell the space, but it is not unusual to have sponsors pay as much as $500 for 2 days at the top of the wall.
Per Climb Fee - If the hosting organization so chooses, a fee may be charged to help offset the rental cost of the Portable Wall. At $2.00 per climb, at max capacity the wall can generate $200 an hour; these charges are flexible typically between $0.50 and $5.00, the more people at the event the more you can profitably charge.

Booking the Cliffside Portable Wall

All you need to do is call us at Cliffside Climbing Gym. We will make sure that the wall is available for your event. We require a $250 deposit on all wall bookings.

Space Requirements

The picture at right is a top down view of the space requirements for the portable climbing wall. In order for safe and proper assembly of the wall we have the following space requirements:

Reasonably firm and flat ground
Min 23' high ceiling for indoor use
Min 9' wide entrance for indoor use
30' from nearest power line

Set Up Process

We will require a minimum of one hour to setup the portable wall. This process will include:

Roll the wall into position
Attach signs, and banners
Secure the wall
Winch it into an upright position
